You’ve seen the list: 100 ways you can go green. Whether you’re a homeowner or a business owner, at first glance this list looks like a good idea. The problem is, among the 100 things you could do to go green, there are at most one or two things you should do right now-based on more than just a desire to do something green. One of the first books about sustainability that I read was Good News for a Change: How Everyday People are Helping the Planet and I have to admit, at the time, it was scarier than reading Steven King. Not scary for the horror factor, rather because the people profiled in the book made such [...]

The fact that Cradle to Cradle was printed with completely biodegradable materials was the first indication that this book was going to be different. Focusing on the premise that rather than continuing on our current path of product design and develop, including recycling, it would be better to redesign everything from the beginning with [...]

At some point 2 years ago, the Institute of Sustainable Development (ISD), a spin-off from the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce in North Carolina realized there was a need for better resources and certification of sustainable development for small to medium-sized businesses which comprise the vast majority of jobs and revenue in the U.S. [...]
